North Vancouver duo helps B.C. win volleyball gold

North Vancouvers Emily Oxland and Katie Wuttunee both played key starting roles for Team British Columbia as they rolled to gold at the National Team Challenge Cup played July 19-24 in Winnipeg. B.C.

North Vancouvers Emily Oxland and Katie Wuttunee both played key starting roles for Team British Columbia as they rolled to gold at the National Team Challenge Cup played July 19-24 in Winnipeg.

B.C. played Team Ontario in the championship final, beating the easterners 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-19, 25-23) to take the title. The NTCC tournament is an annual event for under-18 provincial teams.

Oxland, a setter, was named to the tournament all-star team. Shell be back at Handsworth this fall looking to lead the Royals to their fourth straight AAAA provincial high school championship. Shes been the MVP of the provincial tournament the past two years.

Wuttunee, a six-three middle blocker, played for Carson Graham last year and has committed to Capilano University for the 2011-12 season.
