There will be a pair of events this weekend honouring slain North Vancouver student-athlete Matthew Hutchinson.

A memorial hockey game for the hockey player and volunteer firefighter will be played this Friday starting at 9:30 p.m. at the North Shore Winter Club. The game will feature friends and teammates lacing up their skates at the club where Hutchinson played youth hockey before moving on to a successful career at the junior and college level. More info on the game can be found here.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony for Hutchinson will be held on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at Sutherland secondary. More information on the Celebration of Life can be found here.

Both events are open to the public. Hutchinson, 24, was killed in an apparent double murder-suicide in upstate New York Jan. 17.
