McLachlan pushes Canada to berth in 2012 Paralympic Games

WEST Vancouver's Janet McLachlan helped Canada's women's wheelchair basketball team claim silver at the Parapan American Games held in November in Guadalajara, Mexico.

McLachlan posted eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds in a losing effort as the Canadians fell 69-31 to the United States in the gold medal game. With a top-three finish, however, Canada booked their spot in the 2012 Paralympic Summer Games in London.

Canada finished the tournament with a 4-1 record and reached the podium for the fourth time in four appearances at the Parapan American Games, following gold medal finishes in 1999 and 2003 and a silver medal in 2007.
