CARSON Graham's wrestling teams clamped down on the competition at the Vancouver/North Shore zone tournament held Feb. 10 at Balmoral, winning top spot in both the boys and girls divisions.
The boys team scored 109 total points, topping Notre Dame's 98 and third place John Oliver's 90 points. On the girls side Carson ran away with the title, scoring 74 points to finish first with John Oliver in second with 32 points and St. Thomas Aquinas third with 22 points.
Zone champions from the North Shore included Argyle's Hamish Pye; STAs James Sutherland; Sentinel's Matt Cheung; Windsor's Alex Marchi and Carson Graham's Dustin Gillis, Mateusz Debicki and Arthur Blaszczyk on the boys side and STA's Kara Bulaqui and Carson Graham's Arielle Marsel-Mackenzie, Cholena Horne, Brandy Perry and Gayle Fearnley on the girls side.
The top six wrestlers from each weight class will now move on to the provincial championships scheduled for Feb. 23-25 in Penticton.
