The Capilano Blues men's soccer team earned a berth in the PacWest provincial final and a ticket to the CCAA national championships with a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Island Mariners today at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex.
The Blues got a first-half goal from Bruno Fieri-Marinho and a second-half marker from Nicolas Morello to jump out to a 2-0 lead before holding off a late VIU Mariners rally to secure the win. Capilano, ranked third in the province heading into the tournament, will face fourth-ranked Kwantlen Eagles in the PacWest final Saturday starting at 8 p.m. at Burnaby Lake.
