CAPILANO Rugby Club's toptwo men's teams are gearing up for postseason play after locking up their playoff spots with convincing wins over Abbotsford RFC in their final regular season games last weekend.

In CDI Premier League play the Capilano elites knocked off Abbotsford 43-17 to finish the regular season with a 10-4 record, good enough for third in the provincial league. The Caps finished two points behind second-place Castaway Wanderers and now must travel to the Island to take on the Oak Bay-based team this Saturday in provincial semifinal action.

The two teams split their season series this year with Capilano collecting a 23-17 win at Klahanie Park March 31 and the Castaway Wanderers returning the favour with a 28-24 win on their home turf April 21. Game time is 2: 45 p.m. at Oak Bay's Windsor Park.

In Tier 1 first division play Capilano finished the regular season with a 34-10 win over Abbotsford on Saturday to lock up top spot in the Ceili's Cup League. They'll host longtime rivals Meraloma Rugby Club from Vancouver in a provincial semifinal match. Game time is 11: 30 a.m. Saturday at Klahanie Park.

Capilano's under-16 men's team locked up a Lower Mainland league title Sunday with a 46-7 win over Burnaby Lake. In women's Addidas Premiership play, Capilano finished their year with a 2-7 record and did not make the playoffs.
