Work is underway on the last leg of the Green Necklace.
The walking/cycling trail looping Central Lonsdale is largely complete except for the portion running north along Grand Boulevard and Greenwood Park to 23rd Street. The $3.23-million segment is designed to step down at St. Georges and Eastern avenues and link with the trail at Lonsdale and 21st Street. The project is set to be finished by fall.
Trail work necessitated parking restrictions near Silver Harbour seniors centre but those restrictions were recently lifted, according to city communications manager Connie Rabold.
The city is scheduled to move into the design phase on the Loutet Casano overpass later this year. The span is set to arch over Highway 1, allowing residents to cycle or stroll from Loutet to Cedar Village.
