A woman was sent to hospital Tuesday morning after her vehicle slammed into the side of a North Vancouver strip mall.
North Vancouver district firefighters say the woman was pulling out of the Shell station at Marine Drive and Pemberton Avenue when she drove across the street and crashed into the side of the stores, breaking the windows and damaging both a rug and art store and a restaurant.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the crash, though Steve Feenstra, assistant fire chief for the District of North Vancouver, said they couldn't determine whether the crash was caused by human error or a mechanical problem.
It's not all that unusual for cars to wind up inside buildings. As recently as Sept. 14, 2011, a car crashed into the window of an Edgemont Village real estate agency after the driver hit the wrong pedal while attempting to park.
