It might be dark for some North Vancouver residents as power has been knocked out in most of Central Lonsdale Tuesday morning.

According to BC Hydro, there are three outage alerts in Central Lonsdale, impacting more than 5,000 customers since 8 a.m.

The hydro company says one outage ranges south of Trans Canada Highway, west of Cedarvillage, north of 15th Street, and east of Mahon Avenue, with roughly 3,400 customers impacted.

Another outage is east of Mahon Avenue, west of Lonsdale Avenue, south of 21st Street and north of 13th Street, affecting just over 1,800 customers, while the other is west of Sutherland Avenue, east of St. Georges Avenue, north of Lyon Place and south of 17th Street.

The outage area includes key spots like North Vancouver City Hall, the library, the North Vancouver RCMP detachment, Lions Gate Hospital and the City of North Vancouver Fire Hall.

BC Hydro says crews are on site and the power outage cause is under investigation.

In a statement, the hydro company said as crews are trying to determine the outage cause, they're checking to see if they can switch some of the affected customers over to other lines.

"We thank everyone for their patience while we worked to restore power as quickly and safely as possible," said a spokesperson for BC Hydro.
