WEST Vancouver police had some help tracking down two stolen cars Oct. 19, one where the owner watched her car being stolen in front of her own home.

A woman in the 2100-block of Kings Avenue told police she heard a car alarm go off on the morning of Oct. 20 just before 6 a.m., and looked out to see a man with a flashlight walking on the street.

Believing he was just investigating the alarm, she thought nothing of it - until she looked out moments later to see her own 2009 Toyota Highlander backing out of the driveway.

West Vancouver police quickly picked up the car on Marine Drive, tracking it to Prospect Point where the driver and passenger fled the scene.

Two suspects - both 24-year-old males - were later picked up with the help of a police dog, according to a release.

Just before noon on the same day, a police officer got lucky when he watched a black Honda Civic speed through the school zone outside Eagle Harbour elementary.

The vehicle was identified as being stolen in Burnaby. The 28-year-old driver, James Moore, is facing charges for possession of stolen property

Additionally, his passenger was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
