The West Vancouver woman struck by an SUV while crossing the street in Ambleside Monday has died.
Family members say Beverly Sleeman, 72, died in the late afternoon Tuesday.
Sleeman was crossing Bellevue Avenue in a marked crosswalk at 17th Street around 9:40 a.m. when she was hit by an eastbound SUV. Sleeman received a critical head injury, according to West Vancouver police.
The driver, an 83-year-old man, also from West Vancouver, remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
“At this point, charges are still being contemplated under the Motor Vehicle Act. We’re basically waiting on a report from the (integrated collision analysis and reconstruction service),” said Const. Jeff Palmer, West Vancouver police spokesman.
