STAFF at West Vancouver's Safeway supermarket were left shaken but uninjured after a robber held up the store at gunpoint on the weekend.

The unidentified man entered the store at 1650 Marine Drive at about 7: 30 p.m. March 31, brandished what appeared to be a gun and demanded money, according to police. Employees handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the robber fled.

West Vancouver police arrived at the scene a few minutes later and unsuccessfully searched the neighbourhood with a dog unit.

On Wednesday, after a four-day investigation failed to turn up the suspect, the force turned to the public for help, putting out a plea for tips. The man is described as Caucasian, approximately five feet nine inches tall and between 45 and 60 years old. He was last seen running east from the store.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Vancouver police at 604-925-7300.
