Police still have no clues as to the identity of a scuba diver whose body was hauled out of the water near North Vancouver on the weekend.

A pair of fishermen made the grisly discovery near Cates Park Sunday morning when the decomposing body apparently became entangled in one of their nets as they pulled it out of the ocean. The remains had degenerated to the point that investigators could not determine gender.

The body has been handed over to the coroner, who will be overseeing an autopsy in the coming days. In the meantime, North Vancouver RCMP are scouring missing persons records and other files for clues to the victims identity.

Its not clear yet what caused the divers death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the detachment at 604-985-1311.
