The opening reception for the photographic exhibition, Stan Douglas: Synthetic Pictures, took place at Presentation House Gallery March 20. A large crowd was in attendance along with the internationally renowned Vancouver artist himself. Among the series featured is Midcentury Studio, photographs in the style of postwar news photography, relating to Douglas' cinematic stage production, Helen Lawrence, a multimedia film noir thriller on until April 13 at the Arts Club Theatre Company's Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage. The exhibition, which also features Corrupt Files, a suite of photographic scans extracted from the artist's film works, reduced to patterns of data, will remain on display at the North Vancouver gallery until May 25. presentationhousegallery.org
