Son charged with murdering father

Mother remains in serious condition after alleged attack

A North Vancouver man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his father and seriously wounding his mother Saturday.

Jordan Ramsay, 27, attacked his parents during an early-morning altercation at their shared home in the 500-block of West 28th Street, according to investigators.

North Vancouver RCMP arrived at the apartment complex at about 1:30 a.m. after someone called to report a domestic dispute. They entered the suite to find the man and woman, both 53, suffering from "extensive injuries." Paramedics rushed to the scene, but were unable to save Ramsay's father, Donald. His mother, Wendy, was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Ramsay, still inside the home, was "extremely unco-operative and combative," according to police. Officers had to restrain him before taking him into custody.

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken charge of the case. Officers have been canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses.

Ramsay has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one of attempted murder.

As of Tuesday, Wendy Ramsay remains in an induced coma at Lions Gate Hospital.
