North Vancouver RCMP officers are combing the streets and trails of the North Shore in search of two people who went missing in unrelated incidents Tuesday night.
Simon Rogers, 35, was last seen at his mothers home on the 3700-block of Regent Avenue, but he also maintains a residence in the 100-block of West Fourth Street. Rogers stands six feet, one inch tall and weighs about 230 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and an orange jacket.
Police say Rogers medical history is cause for concern for his family and he may appear to be in distress.
In the second, unconnected incident, 17-year-old Milena Nordwall walked out of Lions Gate hospital wearing a green hospital gown and no shoes. She was later seen near Grand Boulevard and 22nd Street. Nordwall is five feet, four inches tall with a slim build, long blond hair and blue eyes.
"She has done this in the past," said Sgt. Peter DeVries, spokesman for the North Vancouver detachment, in a release. "Her medical condition is such that she should be considered dangerous both to others and to herself. Officers from our detachment have worked with her in the past and so we are familiar with her. We're worried. Last night temperatures dipped below freezing, and we've known her to hide in ditches to avoid being found. We need to find her to make sure she's OK."
A police dog handler was called in Tuesday night to help with the search and the Air One police helicopter joined the effort Wednesday morning. Police have also contacted North Shore Rescue. Members of the public are asked to keep an eye out for Nordwall on North Shore trails and in parks. Its also possible she boarded public transit.
"With no shoes and hospital clothes she should be easy to spot," DeVries said. "Our biggest worry is that she's hiding somewhere outside where hypothermia, frostbite or worse could result."
Anyone spotting either missing person should call 9-1-1 immediately.
