THE wheels on the bus are going around and around the Powell Street overpass project this summer, with at least three changed routes affecting North Shore commuters.

With construction on the $50-million overpass scheduled to begin Monday, June 24, buses will be heading to Hastings Street to avoid Powell.

The 209 and 210 Upper Lynn Valley/Vancouver will avoid much of Powell Street, turning down Clark Drive and onto Hastings Street on the way downtown. The bus will pick up its original route at Howe Street. Heading back to North Vancouver, the 209 and 210 will detour at Homer Street and Pender Street, turning down Hastings and switching back to the original route at Clark.

Similar route changes are in store for riders of the 211 Vancouver/ Seymour/Phibbs Exchange. The bus will also veer from Powell to Clark, turning down Hastings and taking its established route at Howe. Heading back, the 211 will run up Homer to Hastings, picking up the regular route at Clark.

The 214 Vancouver/Blue Ridge/Phibbs Exchange will also use the same detours.

The routes are scheduled to return to normal by the summer of 2014.

Service is slated to increase on the water this summer, with one SeaBus leaving every 15 minutes between 10 a.m. and 6: 30 p.m. The SeaBus is scheduled to return to its regular schedule after Sept. 2. Go to translink.ca/servicechanges for more information.
