A developer is pitching a plan to build a new four-storey hotel in Horseshoe Bay.

Yamamoto Architecture has submitted a preliminary development proposal for 6408, 6412 and 6418 Bay St. located where Troll's Restaurant, Spirit Gallery and Olive and Anchor Restaurant currently are.

The proposal includes the first floor being dedicated to a mix of commercial space including a restaurant and a cafe. The developer is in current discussions with the existing tenants.

The second and third floors will be dedicated to hotel space, offering 33 rooms for visitors. Each room will have a large balcony, and there will be a gym space on the second floor for guests.

Nine rental units are proposed for the top level – five one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units with large roof decks. Underground parking would be accessed from the lane, the proposal states.

"By providing a mix of retail, hotel, and residential, the building will support Horseshoe Bay's goal of becoming a more vibrant and welcoming village," the applicant's proposal states.

A drop-in public consultation meeting is being held at the Great Hall within the Gleneagles Golf Course on Thursday, July 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. Feedback will be accepted online until July 27.
