Police confirm meth lab in West Vancouver home

WEST Vancouver police are remaining tight-lipped about what they found in a fire-damaged home on Greenleaf Road, other than sticking by their original description of a medium-sized drug lab.

WEST Vancouver police are remaining tight-lipped about what they found in a fire-damaged home on Greenleaf Road, other than sticking by their original description of a medium-sized drug lab.

West Vancouver police investigators and the RCMP clandestine laboratory enforcement and response team carried out a "meticulous" search of the remains of the home on Tuesday and Wednesday after executing a search warrant.

Fire heavily damaged the house Monday afternoon causing the neighbouring homes to be evacuated for fear of hazardous fumes emanating from a crystal meth lab inside.

The District of West Vancouver has declared the home unsafe for occupancy and it must undergo environmental remediation

before it can be lived in again, though no toxic materials have been found outside the home and the neighbourhood remains safe, police say.

One man who was in the home at the time was taken to Lions Gate Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation but police have not yet made an arrest in the investigation.
