Photos + Video: Live demonstrations provide closer look at Tri-Cities public safety teams

Coquitlam RCMP's "Show n' Shine" brought hundreds to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of day-to-day law enforcement.

Hundreds of families from the Tri-Cities recently got a closer look at the different branches of local community safety squads.

Coquitlam RCMP hosted a free "Show n' Shine" last Friday (July 21) at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.), featuring 15 agencies that ensure community safety in the region.

Among the popular displays were the emergency response vehicles both inside and outside the arena, including an armoured tank from the Integrated Emergency Response Unit (IERT).

Officers on site also performed live demonstrations for local residents, including operating a wheelbarrow for properly disposing an explosive device.

The Show n' Shine is part of a year-long celebration of the RCMP's 150th anniversary and was co-hosted by the City of Coquitlam.
