NESTLED in the woods at the base of Seymour Mountain, lies St. Pius X elementary.

Established in 1996, St. Pius X is a K-7 single-streamed school dedicated to developing reverence, respect and responsibility within each child. The rationale for the school's existence lies primarily in its ability to form and inform students in the Catholic ways of knowing, loving and living Christ.

St. Pius X enjoys a rich history of excellence that is the direct result of a collegial partnership between the parish, school and parents. The school provides diverse learning opportunities and experiences for students and offers a rigorous academic program, an excellent fine arts program, which includes art, music, band and drama, a strong athletics program and an extensive extra-curricular program. In addition, students are provided with opportunities for service in the local community and beyond.

St. Pius X is proud of the reputation it has built over the years. The school prides itself on the high number of students who participate and are involved in the many facets of school life. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 7 are committed to the various extra-curricular activities the school offers. The school has three choirs with more than 80 members registered, as well as a band program for students in Grade 7. The annual Christmas concert, Variety Show, choral concert and band concert all showcase the many gifts and talents that each student possesses.

St. Pius X school hosts both the annual primary and intermediate North Shore Speech Arts festivals, which involve hundreds of participants from the four North Shore Catholic schools. This is a great opportunity for all students to develop their confidence, as well as their public speaking skills.

Other extra-curricular clubs include Readers are Leaders, Guardian Gazette newspaper, Roman Catholic Challenge, spelling bee, Scorekeeping Club, Altar Servers, and Art Club. The school has an active student council, as well as a dynamic leadership Club.

St. Pius X has contributed greatly to local and global needs, and last year the school raised more than $22,000 for various outreach initiatives. All of these extra-curricular activities provide students with a multitude of choices and opportunities. There's definitely something for everyone at St. Pius X.

St. Pius X strongly believes in and values excellence in all areas (academics, athletics, fine arts, extra-curricular activities, social justice and service), all under a Christian framework.
