A North Vancouver resident is among 60 people Vancouver police want charged in connection with the June 15 Stanley Cup hockey riot in downtown Vancouver.

But it may be a while before that person is formally charged and his or her name made public.

On Monday, the VPD announced it had recommended 163 charges against 60 people as a result of their first round of investigation into the incident.

Investigators expect to advocate more charges in the coming weeks and months.

It will now be up to a team of five prosecutors to go over the reports from the department and decide who gets formally charged.

Police are recommending charges of participating in a riot against all of those flagged so far.

They are also recommending charges of mischief and break-and-enter against a number of those people.

In July, investigators revealed two people from North Vancouver were among 37 who had turned themselves in during the month following the Stanley Cup riot.

Police said Monday more than 50 forensic analysts are sifting through more than 5,000 hours of video footage as part of the investigation.

Although no names have been released, police did provide some information about the suspects.

Their ages range from 16 to 52, with an average age of 21. Thirty-five per cent of those people are from Surrey, 20 per cent from Vancouver and 15 per cent from Burnaby.
