A North Vancouver City Fire Department truck found itself stuck in its tracks Friday after the front wheel become lodged in a sinkhole.

Firefighters responded to a building alarm on the Chadwick Court roundabout, adjacent to the SeaBus terminal in the early afternoon.

“While turning around, the front passenger tire punctured the asphalt revealing a sinkhole area. The ladder truck sustained minor damage,” read a statement from the city. “The full extent of the sinkhole is unknown. It appeared to be about a meter deep on visual inspection. Street and sewer crews are on the scene and will remove asphalt until the extent of the sinkhole is determined.”

While the area is cordoned off, only TransLink buses will be allowed through.

Crews had the truck removed just as the long weekend rush hour was begining.
