UPDATE: ICARS investigating 'serious' vehicle incident near Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver

The Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is on scene of what they are calling a "serious vehicle incident" near Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. 

Highway 99 was initially closed in both directions Sunday evening but has since been reopened in the northbound lane, while the southbound lane remains closed with detours in place, noted ICARS Cpl. Dave Noon in a post on X. Drivers should expect delays while the investigation continues, Noon noted. 

ICARS is brought in to investigate collisions that result in serious injury or death.

Drive BC is reporting a "major vehicle incident" that is affecting traffic in both directions on Highway 99 near Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver on Sunday evening.

An alert from the provincial service noted the incident between Exit 3: Horseshoe Bay Junction and Ansell Place on the Sea to Sky Highway. Crews are on scene, an assessment is in progress and drivers should expect delays around Horseshoe Bay, the alert posted at around 7:30 p.m. said. 

A vehicle occupant near the location reported to the North Shore News that they'd been stopped for more than 30 minutes with an air ambulance arriving on the scene.
