A North Vancouver man died in hospital Dec. 3 after driving his van into a house at 1752 Jones Avenue.
Because the 72-year-old did not brake when his 2005 Dodge Windstar veered into the house, it is likely that he lost consciousness before the crash, said Cpl. Richard De Jong, a spokesman for the North Vancouver RCMP. Witnesses said the victim was slumped over the wheel when the accident took place.
"It's not likely the crash killed him," said De Jong. "He apparently suffered from a heart attack or some other medical condition, but that's not confirmed."
The owner of the house was home at the time of the accident, but was not injured. Damage to the building is substantial and appears to be upwards of several thousand dollars.
