North Shore Rescue members are being honoured for two highly difficult and technical rescues in 2013.

North Shore Rescue is receiving two accolades for their tireless pursuit of errant hikers, lost snowshoers, and one snowboarder who almost didn't make it off the slopes.

The West Vancouver police board is issuing a Certificate of Merit to the rescue team for their part in saving Sebastien Boucher.

The snowboarder was lost for three days in near white out conditions and was hallucinating when rescuers plucked him from a ravine.

The District of North Vancouver is also planning to present North Shore Rescue with the Council's Award, their highest honour, this spring.

"These people put in just staggering amounts of time and risk and training," Mayor Richard Walton said.
