THE suspect in two armed stick-ups in Horseshoe Bay last spring is in police custody in Surrey.
Surrey RCMP arrested the man on Dec. 13 after an unrelated incident. He was linked with a number of other offences including the West Vancouver attempted robberies after a combined investigation with the West Vancouver Police Department and Squamish RCMP.
On May 18 last year, a man approached a Troll's Restaurant employee in the parking lot wearing a mask and carrying what appeared to be a handgun. He demanded information about cash in the restaurant and then fled without going inside. Ten days later, the same suspect was spotted prowling around the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. When confronted by a B.C. Ferries worker, the man produced a gun and knife, forced the employee inside and demanded cash. The suspect again fled upon learning there was no cash to steal.
Twenty-five-year-old Thomas Prins of no fixed address now faces charges of robbery and disguise with intent to commit robbery for the Horseshoe Bay accusations. He also faces eight other charges.
Prins remains in custody pending his next court appearance in Surrey on Feb. 5.
