A 51 year-old Surrey man is facing possible charges after he punched out a window of car in a Park Royal Shopping Centre parking lot during an incident of apparent road rage on Saturday afternoon.
The drama started around 5:30 p.m. when a West Vancouver woman behind the wheel of a 2007 Honda Odyssey honked her horn to warn another driver who was backing up, that she was behind him.
But the Surrey man, who was on foot, thought she was honking at him and took offence.
He swore at the driver then punched the front passenger window, causing it to break, said police.
He then took off but later returned to the scene and was arrested. Police are recommending charges of assault and mischief.
The Park Royal incident is just the latest road rage episode to hit the North Shore.
In August last year, 44-year-old Kam Aeinparast was rushed to hospital requiring multiple stitches after he was punched, then rammed and pinned with a truck while pulled over near Taylor Way and Marine Drive.
Two men including one from California are also facing both criminal charges and a civil lawsuit after they allegedly beat North Vancouver tow truck driver Ryan McCaffery with an aluminum baseball bat at the side of The Cut in January last year.
In November 2010, a 21 year-old North Vancouver man suffered brain injuries after being savagely beaten on a Lower Lonsdale crosswalk.
The man had yelled at a passing driver who almost hit while he crossed the street with a friend.
