A North Vancouver man accused of killing his father and severely injuring his mother is in court today facing a charge of second-degree murder.
Jordan Ramsay, 27, was due to appear in North Vancouver provincial court via video link at 10 a.m. He cant show in person because hes in hospital, according to the RCMP. Ramsay murdered his father, Donald, during an early-morning dispute Nov. 5, according to investigators. He also allegedly attacked his mother, Wendy, during the same altercation, sending her to hospital in critical condition. Ramsay is facing an additional charge of attempted murder in relation to that portion of the incident.
As of Wednesday, Wendy remained in an induced coma, but police say shes recovering and is now listed in stable condition.
North Vancouver RCMP arrived at the familys home in the 500-block of West 28th Street at about 1:30 a.m. Nov. 5 to find Ramsays parents suffering from extensive injuries. Ramsay was still inside the residence and was behaving in an extremely uncooperative and combative way, according to investigators. They had to restrain him before taking him into custody.
Donald was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lower Mainlands Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken the lead in the case. They have not said what kind of weapon, if any, was used in the attack.
