PAUL McCartney returned to Vancouver for the first time in almost half a century to perform at BC Place on Sunday night but it was more than worth the wait for his fans.

"It's been a long time, Vancouver," he told the sold out crowd. "It's good to be back."

Macca and his band (Rusty Anderson on guitar, Paul Wickens on keyboards and guitar, Brian Ray on guitar and bass and Abe Laboriel Jr. on drums) opened with "Magical Mystery Tour," closed with an Abbey Road medley and in between played close to 40 songs over a three-hour set as part of his "On the Run" tour.
