A young driver has been issued a driving suspension after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash in North Vancouver.
On Aug. 4 around 4:45 p.m., police got a call about a four-vehicle collision on the 3300 block of Dollarton Highway.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found one of the vehicles had been flipped onto its side. But the driver of a truck involved in the crash had left by the time police arrived, said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, spokesperson for North Vancouver RCMP.
At the time, Dollarton Highway was closed to traffic in the area.
Shortly after, a passerby alerted one of the officers that he was flagged down by a man who said he needed a ride.
“The passerby suspected this person needing a ride may have been involved in the collision, so he brought him to the police,” Sahak said. “After police spoke to the individual at crash scene, it was determined he was involved and brought back to the detachment.”
After providing a sample, the driver – a man in his 20s – was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition. But his blood-alcohol was still below the threshold for a criminal offence, Sahak said.
The driver was also issued several violation tickets, for failing to display an “L” sign and failing to produce a driver’s licence.
As the result of the crash, people sustained minor injuries and at least one of them was taken to hospital, Sahak said.
