Young Naturalists' Club - Ready, Set, Dig: Children ages five to 13 accompanied by an adult will learn how to start a garden Sunday, June 10, 1-2: 30 p.m. at Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre, 3663 Park Rd., North Vancouver. Summer Reading Club: Registration for a program for children in kindergarten to Grade 6 that promotes reading every day while kids are out of school will begin June 11. A kick-off party will take place Saturday, July 7, 1: 30 p.m. at the North Vancouver City Library, 120 West 14th St. This year's theme will be "strange but true" and Mike Larson from Mike's Critters will show off his strange animals and share a few surprising facts. Teddy Bear Picnic: A free community event Saturday, June 16, 10: 30 a.m.-2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Park, 1044 St. Georges Ave., North Vancouver. The event will include many activities such as face painting, a raffle, a bouncy castle, a clown, a barbecue and a bear parade at noon.

The Magic in Music: A monthly program that teaches children the basics of music education and appreciation in a relaxed and friendly group setting Saturdays until June 16, 2012, 10: 30 a.m. at The Silk Purse Arts Centre, 1570 Argyle Ave., West Vancouver. Pianist and music teacher Karen Lee-Morlang will lead the workshops. No previous music experience is needed. Fee: $10 per class. Reservations required: 604925-7292.
