Quay Property Management has named the two tenants that will take over their signature hotel and restaurant spaces when the Shipyards reaches completion by the end of 2018.

Joey Restaurant will build a two-storey flagship location featuring a patio and theatre kitchen, and Executive Hotels & Resorts will develop a 70-room boutique hotel at the site.

Without naming names, Quay director of operations Taylor Mathiesen said all the big, recognizable restaurant businesses around the Lower Mainland were keenly interested. What made the Joey pitch stand out was their design proposal.

“The design of the restaurant is really unique and they’re really focused on the experience that the customers have in their restaurants,” he said. “It’s really interactive and you kind of see what goes on behind the scenes. It’s a bit of a show. They’ve got some exciting plans for their patios that will really be comfortable and be hopefully usable year-round.”

Executive Hotels & Resorts owns 20 hotels around the United States and Canada, including ones in San Francisco, New York City, Seattle, Whistler, Calgary and Vancouver.

Construction for the site is on schedule and there are several other spaces for lease, ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 square feet.
