The northernmost point of the streetcar system on the No. 1 Lonsdale line was North Lonsdale at the cross section of Windsor Road. The real estate boom of North Lonsdale opened the area for further settlement which created the need for streetcar service by 1912.
Due to the electrical power that the cars used from the Buntzen Lake Power Dam, the cars would run out of energy when they reached Windsor, which made it an ideal location for the terminus.
