ONE of the suspects wanted in a violent home invasion in West Vancouver last fall is now behind bars.

Abbotsford Police Department officers made the arrest last week after West Vancouver police identified their suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest in February.

Richard Wayne Heino, a 24-year-old Aldergrove resident, is in custody and facing numerous charges for his alleged role in the incident.

Police say Heino and an accomplice were reported handing out flyers on the 2200-block of Haywood Avenue on Oct. 28 last year. While police were on their way in to investigate, Heino and the other suspect forced their way into a man's home brandishing weapons, accosted the victim inside and bound his hands with zip ties while they ransacked the home. The suspects fled with several items before police arrived.

At the time, police said the victim had been targeted for the attack.

Heino faces charges of robbery, unlawful confinement and use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence and is due back in North Vancouver provincial court for a bail hearing on March 19.
