Charities on the North Shore have an extra two weeks to apply for grants this year.
The North Shore Community Foundation, which handed out almost $150,000 to federally registered charities last year, has just moved its application deadline from March 15 to March 30.
Serving North and West Vancouver, as well as Bowen Island and Lions Bay, the NSCF currently funds 22 charities.
Grants from the NSCF are seldom more than $2,000.
The NSCF has helped to fund Athletics for Kids, which provides funding for children who would otherwise be unable to play amateur sports, as well as a hot lunch program for homeless people at the North Shore's Highlands United Church.
The NSCF has also supported the Red Cross, an early childhood program for First Nations children, and an empowerment camp for teenage girls.
Charities, educational institutions, and government agencies can apply for grants.
Applicants for the Judy Dennis Emerging Artist Award have until April 1 to send in their paperwork.
Charities are judged based on their ability to benefit the North Shore, as well as their longevity, and the need they serve.
The NSCF board of directors makes the final recommendations on the grants.
