FAMILY members of a missing man are desperate for the public's help in finding their loved one.
Walter Bartlett, 60, was last seen leaving the Army and Navy Pub in North Vancouver at 7: 30 p.m. Aug. 1. His bank account was used the following day, but there has been no trace of him since then.
"I usually talk to him at least four times a week," said his daughter, Sandra Bartlett. "We're very close. I even talk to him on his lunch breaks. Now his phone is off and none of his friends have seen him since he left the Army and Navy that night. His car is missing. I've looked everywhere. He's missed work as well. He hasn't been at the usual places he hangs out, and he hasn't contacted my sister Carly or me. His friends have looked everywhere and the police are looking into it."
Bartlett said her father, who lives in Upper Lonsdale, is in good health and has never gone missing before.
"It's completely out of character," she said. "If he was going on vacation or something, I would know. It's the weirdest feeling. I'm really worried.
"Getting more people aware of the situation might help. Maybe someone saw him in a coffee shop or maybe saw that car parked by the side of the road near the forest. Maybe he went for a hike and got lost. It's not likely, but you never know. Who knows what he was thinking Tuesday morning when he got up and took off. I'm scared and I'm worried."
Bartlett is Caucasian, six feet two inches tall and 180 pounds. He has dirty blond hair and a moustache. His daughter believes he would likely be wearing jeans or painting work clothes.
He may also be driving a grey 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass with B.C. licence plate 813 WHM.
