The District of West Vancouver is calling for nominations for individuals or groups who go the extra mile in their volunteerism to be recognized with a Community Award this fall.
The Community Awards will be given to volunteers in five categories: arts and culture, community commitment, the environment, heritage and health, wellness and fitness.
The arts and culture award will be awarded for contributions in visual, literary or performing arts. The community commitment award will recognize people who show their make contributions to their community through leadership, active citizenship and “dynamic participation.” The environmental award will be given to a group or individual who has volunteered in environmental stewardship, protection or education.
West Vancouver residents or groups who have helped preserve the district’s natural heritage or its built or cultural heritage can be nominated for the heritage community award. Those who volunteer to enhance the mental, physical or emotional lives of others or help promote active lifestyles can be nominated in the health, wellness and activity category.
The deadline for Community Award nominations is Oct. 12. Nominations can be dropped off or mailed to municipal hall (750 17th St.) or submitted online at westvancouver.ca/awards.
