Ashley has found a spot in the working community where she can be herself and still enjoy what she does at her job. Ashley was supported by Employment ConneXions to get a job as a Junior Office Assistant at McCreary Centre Society, a non-profit organization committed to improving the health of BC youth through research, education and community based projects.
When asked what she likes best about working at McCreary, Ashley responded, "I like the staff at McCreary and I love doing petty cash, shredding, recycling, filing reports and learning new tasks like using the computer to print labels."
Ashley shared that she enjoys working with Employment ConneXions because she likes being trained and respected. Kate Kovaleva, Ashley's supervisor at McCreary said, "I look forward to having Ashley come to work. She brightens up the office environment for everyone with her smile and by helping others do their job." Kate further explained, "It's been a rewarding experience to teach Ashley different tasks and watch her learn and do the job well." Kate mentioned that she will be working with Ashley to organize supplies for BC Adolescent Health Survey 5 in early 2013 which will involve surveying 40,000 youth across BC.
Ashley is looking forward to assisting Kate with this new project!
