Ecole Argyle Secondary is alerting parents of a potential COVID-19 exposure.
School administrators informed parents via letter on Friday, the final day of class before winter break, that a member of the school community had tested positive for the coronavirus and had been among two Grade 11 classes on Dec. 14, 15 and 16.
Students in the two Grade 11 classes are being asked to self-monitor for symptoms while Vancouver Coastal Health is undertaking contact tracing. Anyone identified by VCH as a close contact will be notified by public health and directed to isolate for 14 days from their last date of possible exposure, according to the letter.
Earlier this month, students and staff in a Grade 1 class at Upper Lynn Elementary were told to self-isolate until Christmas Day after three children and one adult in the classroom tested positive for COVID-19. A Grade 3 class at the school was advised to self-monitor after a positive case was also reported in that class.
School is back in session on Monday, Jan. 4. Argyle students will first attend class in their newly built school on the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 5.
