North Shore charities and non-profit groups are invited to apply for a portion of the $77,000 in community grant money available through the North Shore Community Foundation.
Applications for financial support will be accepted until Oct. 15 from community programs and services, which must be run by registered charities, educational institutions or government agencies. This year, the NSCF has more than doubled the amount of money available for discretionary grants.
In addition, $56,500 has already been earmarked for scholarships and directed grants. When added to the $50,000 given to the Turning Point Recovery Society as a result of funds raised at the North Shore Mayors' Golf Tournament, the foundation will be distributing more than $184,000 this year.
Over its 26 years as a community foundation, the NSCF has given out more than $1 million to improve the quality of life on the North Shore.
