IMAGINE a school where each student is excited about the day ahead; where students are encouraged to be risk takers and ask questions and where every opportunity is seen as a learning experience.

IMAGINE a school where each student is excited about the day ahead; where students are encouraged to be risk takers and ask questions and where every opportunity is seen as a learning experience.

Imagine a school where parents, teachers and students collaborate to ensure the best possible educational adventure for every child. Welcome to Brockton!

Brockton offers a small school environment from grades Kindergarten to 10, where students learn in small class sizes and thrive in an inclusive, caring community.

The small school model facilitates inquiry-based learning, allows for individual attention and encourages students to participate in all aspects of school life.

At Brockton, teachers offer a learning environment that is based on the core values of truth, honesty and mutual respect. The unique and welcoming school culture is the result of integrating those values into everything they do.

Everyone in the Brockton community is expected to uphold these values: students; faculty; parents; and community partners. At the beginning of each school year, a "School-Home Agreement" is completed for each student. This agreement documents the responsibilities required of the school, the student and their parents in enabling the student to take responsibility and enjoy a right to succeed. A key commitment that is required from all students at Brockton is "I will not disturb others' learning."

Brockton provides a broad and balanced curriculum which surpasses the expectations of the International Baccalaureate and British Columbia Ministry of Education requirements.

The challenging academic program is complemented by the Exploration, Discovery, Outdoor School and World Music Ensemble programmes. These initiatives offer students a new learning experience, encourage teamwork and leadership and provide opportunities to connect with local and global communities.

For example, the Brockton World Music Ensemble is representing Canada at the 30th World Conference on Music Education in Thessaloniki, Greece in July 2012.

Co-curricular activities are an important part of student life with a wide range of sporting and other activities to choose from, including chess, archery, fencing, Lego robotics and gymnastics. Whether joining a sports team or trying something new, everyone is encouraged to participate.

This is Brockton - a school where students are inspired to inquire about the world around them and encouraged to achieve their true potential by being active learners and global citizens. A school where each student embarks on an educational adventure every day.
