THE City of North Vancouver is investigating a new purchasing policy that would require new cityfunded buildings to be built primarily of wood.
A similar policy already exists at the provincial level and, according to a Dec. 12 presentation from the Canadian Wood Council, roughly 40 B.C. communities have enacted a "wood first" policy.
The municipality's city hall renovation is making use of wood in the form of laminated strand lumber panels.
