CapU VP wins Woman of Distinction

A Capilano University administrator is one of this year's YWCA Women of Distinction award winners

Catherine Vertesi is Capilano's vice-president of international, external relations and new initiatives. The Montreal-born, Vancouver-raised woman has devoted her career to excellence in education.

Vertesi has an MBA from the University of British Columbia.

Vertesi has won awards for excellence in teaching and student service. She is a founding board member of the International Educators Association of Canada.

A mother of three, Vertesi also finds time to volunteer with Ronald McDonald Children's Charities, the Minerva Foundation and the Girl Guides of Canada.

The annual Women of Distinction award "honours women whose outstanding achievements contribute to the well-being and future of our community," according to the YWCA website. Women are nominated in categories such as arts, business, education and community.
