TWO Port Moody residents won't be getting lost on their way to court after being caught with GPS equipment allegedly stolen from a West Vancouver store.
The male and female entered the store on Marine Drive on the afternoon of Aug. 4, and dropped a watch and the GPS device into the woman's bag while the male made a scene to distract the store employees.
Cpl. Jag Johal wouldn't comment on how the distraction was done, but said it was designed to intimidate the store employees.
"That's what happens, they get intimidated by some gnarly looking people and they don't necessarily approach them," he said.
West Vancouver police tracked the property to Coquitlam, set up a "buy-and-bust" operation where a police officer impersonated an interested buyer of the goods, and arrested a 43-year-old male and a 34-year-old female. Both are known to police.
The two have been released on a promise to appear with conditions ahead of a court date set for Sept. 7.
