BMW crashes into North Vancouver business

No injuries and impairment has been ruled out, police say

A business entrance is damaged after a BMW driver crashed into part of a North Vancouver shopping centre Monday morning.

North Vancouver RCMP said the driver smashed into a business at Dollarton Village in Deep Cove around 10 a.m. Monday. Police and District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services members were on scene.

There are no injuries and impairment has been ruled out, said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, spokesperson for North Vancouver RCMP.

“At this stage, it’s suspected that the driver may have pressed the accelerator rather than the brake,” Sahak said.

Sahak said the driver is a senior and it was too soon to say if there will be any charges under the Motor Vehicle Act.

“It seems like it was more of an accident than anything intentional,” he said. “I think people understand sometimes things happen.”

Sahak said the driver is co-operating with police on their investigation.
