Staff at West Vancouvers Safeway supermarket were left shaken but uninjured after a robber held up the store at gunpoint on the weekend.

The unidentified man entered the store at 1650 Marine Drive at about 7:30 p.m. March 31, brandished what appeared to be a gun and demanded money, according to police. Employees handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the robber fled.

West Vancouver police arrived at the scene a few minutes later and searched the neighbourhood with a dog unit, but were unable to track the man down.

The man is described as Caucasian, approximately five feet nine inches tall and between 45 and 60 years old.
