A 46-year-old Chiliwack woman is facing charges after she ploughed into a North Vancouver RCMP cruiser in her car, allegedly while drunk, early Friday morning.A North Vancouver constable was headed west on 13th at Lonsdale around 2:30 a.m., when the woman, coming from the opposite direction, made a dangerous left turn onto Lonsdale and crashed into the squad car.At 2:30 a.m., were often looking for impaired drivers and setting up roadblocks. Its not very often where they collide with a police car, said Cpl. Richard De Jong, spokesman for the North Vancouver RCMP. Fortunately no one was injured seriously. The negative consequences remainfor the other driver of course, De Jong added.De Jong said the driver was taken back to the North Vancouver detachment only about two blocks away where she refused to provide a breath sample.RCMP kept the woman in custody until she was deemed sober enough to be released on a future promise to appear.Police have recommended charges of impaired driving and refusal to provide a breath sample against the driver.Damage to the police vehicle and the womans Pontiac Sunfire is estimated at $8,000.
