Two North Shore students have received the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award. Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School student Isaac Heisler and former KGMS student Sarah Sullivan, now in Grade 7 at Upper Lynn elementary, were two of 10 B.C.

A newcomer to school board topped the polls in the District of North Vancouver. Clinical psychologist Jessica Stanley garnered more votes than any other school board candidate and all but four council and mayoralty candidates across the North Shore.
