Laurie Anderson will perform, All the Things I Lost in the Flood, in the Chan Shun Concert Hall at UBC’s Chan Centre on Monday, April 23 at 8 p.m. Using spoken word, video, live music, and electronics the multimedia artist explores her 40-year archive of creative material. “CNN Predicts a Monster Storm” is from her latest album, Landfall, which was recorded with the  Kronos Quartet and released on Nonesuch Records.

KENDRICK LAMAR
Bompton rapper wins Pulitzer Prize for his album, DAMN. In March of 2012 West Vancouver's Nardwuar was in Austin, Texas at SXSW where he got to talk to a young rapper making a name for himself, Kendrick Lamar. Lamar was at the festival with the Black Hippy Collective (which also featured Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and ScHoolboy Q), had just signed to Interscope and was getting ready to release his major label debut, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.

Record Store Day celebrates vinyl culture April 21. Ben Bengtson profiled North Vancouver’s The Turntable Shop where you can check out the hardware and find vintage sounds like Bobbie Gentry’s Ode to Billie Joe. Her BBC Sessions are one of the special releases coming out on April 21.
